Creating High Achievement for ELL Students
Always Starts With the Principal.
How well school leaders address the needs of English Language Learners can make all the difference in closing achievement gaps and putting all students on the path to proficiency.
Research has shown that effective interventions by principals can make a significant difference for this rapidly growing population. For example, principals who promote differentiating levels of instruction in their classrooms and support collaboration between ELL and general instructors make gains in closing these achievement gaps.
The National Institute for School Leadership offers a two-day program for school leaders based on the lessons learned from this research. The Institute gives principals the tools they need for developing a school-wide action plan for raising ELL achievement.
