    • What People are Saying

"A compelling reason for implementing the Early Childhood Executive Leadership Institute in Pennsylvania was to protect the Commonwealth's investment in early education.  Leaders who understand child development and age-appropriate instructional strategies can create the environment for children to thrive as they transition from Pre-K to kindergarten and beyond."

Harriet Dichter, National Director, First Five Years Fund
(former Secretary of Public Welfare, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania)

    Meeting the Early Learning Challenge

The recently announcement $500 million Race to the Top – Early Learning Challenge is an opportunity for states to put research into practice, developing and implementing high quality early childhood education systems for their young children.

The goal of the RTT-ELC is for states to provide more young children "with access to high quality early leaning and development programs". NISL, a leader in education leadership development, has partnered with five state departments in crafting cutting-edge school leadership programs, including a newly launched early childhood program in Pennsylvania. We are ready to help you design your state's professional development plan for early childhood leaders.

Such a program will build leadership capacity across the continuum of Early Learning and Development Programs, empowering your child care, Head Start, pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, and K-3 prinicipals to:

    • Understand the state's quality ratings for Early Learning and Development Programs and how to meet them
    • Better know and be able to leverage child development and early learning strategies to help children meet standards
    • Understand and use appropriate assessment tools to monitor progress as well as to differentiate and improve instruction
    • Work across pre-k and k-3 "silos" to ensure that standards, curriculum, instruction, and assessments are aligned and developmentally appropriate. Strengthen and align high quality systems of early care and education
    • Reduce the "fade out" effect
    • Address the needs of children with disabilities and English language learners
    • Ensure seamless transitions for children and families
    • Recruit and support qualified staff
    • Engage and support families and communities
    • Lead change
    • Put strategy into action

Contact us to learn how we can develop a custom program for your RTTT-ELC initiative that will align with your state standards, assessments and early childhood initiatives.
