Early Childhood Leadership Institute
Proven leadership programs that help children
do extraordinary things.
The Evidence is Clear...
Fifty years of research demonstrates the lasting academic, developmental, and social benefits of high-quality early childhood education programs.
Children who go to effective preschool programs are:
- More likely to become good readers in elementary school
- Less likely to be placed in special education
- More likely to graduate from high school and attend college
- Less likely to need public assistance as adults
- Less likely to be arrested or incarcerated
AND So is the Challenge...
- The quality of early education programs is uneven
- There is no cohesive system, and there is little alignment
- Access is limited. State preschool programs serve only 6 percent of 3-year-olds and 28 percent of 4-year-olds, and Head Start serves less than half of eligible children (NIEER)
- Deep and persistent learning gaps between groups of children exist at Kindergarten entry
- Preschool programs are largely disconnected from the K-12 system: different standards, teaching methods, assessments, teacher training, approaches to learning
NISL's Early Childhood Executive Leadership Institute bridges the gaps between early learning programs and K-12 schools.
Leaders of programs serving children from birth through age 8 learn together as part of a powerful professional development experience:
- Application of the latest brain development research
- Effective program design and strategies
- Family engagement and multi-generational services
- Action learning projects that improve classroom quality, strengthen family engagement, and integrate birth through third grade systems
